All about the role:
The Regional People Manager – Commercial (APMEA) is a senior leadership role within the People Function, responsible for leading and delivering the People agenda across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, India, and Africa region (APMEA), with a specific focus on supporting the Commercial function. The remit spans key markets including China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, India, the UAE & Morocco, and Australia.
This role serves as both a regional anchor and operational leader for the commercial cluster, translating global and regional People strategies into actionable, country-specific plans. The position requires a commercially oriented HR professional with deep experience in supporting go-to-market functions such as Sales, Marketing, and Business Development—ideally gained in matrixed, multinational environments.
The incumbent will lead a distributed team of approximately 10 direct reports, comprising People Country Managers and dual-role People Partners, and will form a critical member of the Region EA People Relations Leadership Team.
What you’ll do:
Regional Business Partnering & Execution of People Strategy
- Act as the lead People Relations partner to the Commercial organization across APMEA, ensuring that the People agenda directly enables and accelerates business growth.
- Translate Commercial priorities into cohesive regional and country-level People Plans that are contextually appropriate, practical, and forward-looking.
- Act as a trusted advisor to regional and in-market Commercial leaders, ensuring alignment between functional ambitions and People strategies.
- Build strong relationships with People Business Partners (PBPs) and COE stakeholders to ensure integrated People delivery.
2. Leadership & Management of Country People Teams
- Lead and develop a geographically dispersed team of ~10 direct reports, including People Country Managers and People Partners with dual responsibilities in Emerging Markets.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to People teams operating in both mature and emerging markets, tailoring interventions based on local maturity and business needs.
- Promote a high-performance culture underpinned by accountability, development, and a shared sense of purpose.
3. Operational People Leadership
- Ensure excellence in core People operations across all markets in scope—payroll, compliance, policy deployment, and employee relations.
- Provide guidance and coaching to People Managers on operational execution and the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with diverse legal and regulatory environments.
4. Transformation, Change & Integration Leadership
- Serve as a key enabler of transformation initiatives, particularly those linked to commercial capability building, structural evolution, and operating model changes.
- Foster a culture of adaptability and entrepreneurialism while building People capabilities to support organizational resilience.
- Lead cross-regional initiatives to strengthen collaboration, harmonization, and integration across the People function.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders within the Commercial leadership team, as well as across Centers of Expertise (e.g., Total Rewards, Talent Management, D&I) to ensure smooth deployment of strategic initiatives.
- Champion and co-own enterprise-wide HR initiatives to embed a consistent employee experience and culture across APMEA.
6. People Analytics & Insight-Driven Decision Making
- Leverage data and insights to inform strategic decisions around workforce planning, attrition, succession, and employee engagement.
Build data fluency within the team and ensure insights are translated into meaningful, action-oriented plans.
Who you are:
- Fluency in English required; additional Asian languages are highly desirable.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior regional or multi-country leadership role within Commercial-facing organizations (e.g., FMCG, Consumer Goods, Tech, Retail, Pharma).
- Deep understanding of Commercial environments, including Sales, Marketing, and Category/Business Development.
- Demonstrated success in leading HR teams across complex, culturally diverse geographies, with experience in both developed and emerging markets.
- Strong working knowledge of labor legislation and employment practices across Asia and/or the Middle East.
- Experience working within a COE-driven specialist functions and collaborating across functional domains.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
