About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Business Development to lead and drive the growth of our insurance services through strategic channel development and partnerships. This role is pivotal in expanding our agency and broking distribution channels, and in cultivating strong relationships with strategic partners to unlock new revenue opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy focusing on agency and broker distribution networks.
- Identify, onboard, and manage strategic distribution partners to expand market reach and customer acquisition.
- Build and lead a high-performing business development team with a strong performance and partnership mindset.
- Drive commercial negotiations, partnership models, and contractual arrangements with distributors and intermediaries.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Operations, and Compliance teams to ensure successful partner onboarding and service delivery.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance data to refine strategies, improve distribution effectiveness, and meet growth targets.
- Represent the company at industry events, broker forums, and external partner engagements to enhance brand visibility and pipeline growth.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in commercial and retail sales, with proven success in the agency and/or broking distribution channel within the insurance sector.
- Strong track record in channel development, partnership acquisition, and relationship management with insurance distributors.
- Deep understanding of insurance products (life/general), distribution regulations, and market dynamics.
- High throughput. Strong bias towards action with the reputation of someone who gets things done. You love having a lot on your plate and get energy from being busy.
- Strategic thinker. Able to add value to a business strategy or negotiation
- Strong interpersonal skills. Know how to build trust and negotiate hard with partners and lead a high performing team
- Ability to multi-task and deal with time pressure in an unstructured environment; ability to work through uncertainty
- Entrepreneurial approach and a self-starter personality are a "must-have"
- Comfortable with managing data, analytics and technology
