The editorial team at FreshPlaza.com is part of Fresh Publishers, a family business that focuses on news in the international fruit and vegetable trade, horticulture and the organic sector. Every day, we send newsletters by mail, in seven languages to more than 400.000 subscribers worldwide.
The fruit and vegetable industry is highly dynamic, with factors like heat or persistent rain affecting prices and volumes. One week the price is high, the next week the market may plummet. Every day, we highlight the stories from this fluctuating sector.
In this role, you'll focus on the Southeast Asia area. It involves writing articles and creating content about the entire area Southeast Asia.
This job is remote and on a freelance basis.
What you’ll do
As an Editor, you’ll be part of the FreshPlaza.com editorial team. Your work as an editor is diverse. Depending on the role, you write articles or are fully responsible for a publication. In every role, it is important that you are flawless in English and that you do not fear a deadline. Whether it is a short news item, an interview or a background story; You work quickly and accurately, and are able to practice under pressure without losing sight of quality.
No day is the same: one day you write several short pieces, and another day you have a story that requires more research, conducting an interview or making (photo) reports.
Several times a year, you visit trade fairs and/or events where you create (photo) reports and prepare them for online publication.
Prior knowledge of the fruit and vegetable sector is not required; we train you.
Have you relevant experience with writing and publishing and can you communicate in a clear way? Whether it’s a short news story or an interview, you extract the most important information and turn it into an easy-to-read article.
Your tasks will be:
- Writing articles and news reports
- Conducting and transcription interviews
- Collect information and following up on news topics
- Building and maintaining a network
- Informing and advising (potential) clients
- Maintaining contact with advertisers
- Visit trade fairs and/or events where you create (photo) reports and prepare them for online publication
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s level of thinking and working
- Strong communication skills and excellent command of the English language, spoken and written
- Relevant experience with writing and publishing, preferably you have an editorial or journalistic background
- Ability to easily connect with people and commercial sales skills
- A natural networker, social, and not afraid of deadlines
- Ability to quickly build a network of companies and contacts
- Always looking for commercial opportunities and able to act on them
What you can expect from us
- A job based on freelance
- You get paid per article written
- You start by writing a number of articles per week and we will build this up to a maximum of 10 articles per week
- In the beginning you will receive support from a remote colleague
