The Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring data assets are well-managed, accurate, accessible, and governed according to organizational standards. This role bridges the gap between business and technology by overseeing the quality, consistency, and usability of data across key domains (e.g., customer, product, vendor, finance).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data owners and data custodians to define and enforce data standards, policies, and business rules.
- Maintain and improve data quality, including profiling, cleansing, and validation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for specific data domains (e.g., customer, store, inventory).
- Monitor and resolve data issues and coordinate root cause analysis.
- Support metadata management by updating definitions, lineage, and classifications in the data catalog.
- Facilitate data change management processes and monitor adherence to data governance policies.
- Work closely with business and IT teams to support data-driven initiatives, analytics, and reporting.
- Participate in data governance councils and ensure alignment with enterprise data strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Data Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or business analysis.
- Strong understanding of data quality principles, data profiling, and data lineage.
- Experience with tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Azure Purview, Talend, or similar.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and relational databases (SQL).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise between business and technical teams.
- Detail-oriented and process-driven mindset.·
- Experience in a regulated or data-mature environment (e.g., ecom, retail).
- Knowledge of master data management (MDM) practices.
- Exposure to PDPA, or other compliance frameworks.
- Certification in Data Governance/Data Management (e.g., CDMP, DCAM).
