Compassion International is seeking an Accounting Associate to provide professional support in accounting and systems-related tasks. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about financial stewardship and committed to our mission of serving children in Jesus’ name.
Responsibilities
- Acts as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
- Performs accounting duties including training, policy clarification, feedback, transactional accounting and analyses to internal and external customers. This may include field offices, partner countries, donors, and internal organizational groups.
- Analyzes financial reports and transactions to ensure that there are no input errors, financial accounting policies and procedures are being followed, and activities are being classified correctly.
- Coordinates and manages payments to field offices, brokers, vendors, donors, and others as needed.
- Participates in the monthly and annual close processes, performing duties such as overseeing and preparing professional documentation for audits.
Qualifications:
- Accountable for supporting, upholding, and engaging in Compassion's core "Cultural Behaviors" in all internal and external communication and relationships.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or in a related field.
- No prior experience required beyond education.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
