Job Summary
This role will be responsible for providing health services to students and staff at school. The School Nurse will ensure the best possible medical care is available on an emergency care basis.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the daily operation of the nurse offices.
- Provide medical knowledge for assessment, first aid, and nursing care for illnesses and injuries, including the application of basic CPR techniques.
- Provide nursing care and health advice to students and school personnel, including the safe administration of medications in accordance with parental authorization and medical guidelines.
- Assess students' and school personnel's health conditions to determine whether they should remain in school, be sent home, or require referral to a medical facility due to illness or injuries.
- Ensure timely and appropriate emergency and immediate care is accessible to all students and school personnel, prioritizing safety and effective response in critical situations.
- Be available beyond regular working hours to accompany and transport students or school personnel to a medical facility when necessary.
- Notify parents or guardians in situations that beyond basic illnesses or injuries.
- Be aware of students with communicable diseases and promptly inform the Head Nurse or Senior Nurse to initiate standard notification procedures for informing the parents of other students in the class.
- Assist in maintaining the efficient operation of the nursing offices, ensuring the availability of adequate supplies, including stocked first aid kits for both on-campus and off-campus use, current and appropriate medications, cleanliness, and properly functioning monitoring equipment.
- Collaborate with other members of the school's Support Services Team.
- Maintain a record of students’ visits to the nurse offices and dispensed medication in the school’s database program.
- Accompany students on day trips and overnight field trips, and provide support for sports activities and other school events as requested.
- Encourages the maintenance of good health and well-being amongst the school community, providing information as needed and requested.
- Supervise the work, delegate tasks, and manage the scheduling of shifts for part-time nurses.
- Provide support to the Head Nurse and Senior Nurse in all aspects of their duties.
- In the absence of the Head Nurse or Senior Nurse, assume the role of deputy in charge for short periods.
- Participate in professional development courses to ensure the use of the most current knowledge and practices.
- Participate in professional development courses to enhance nursing knowledge and skills.
- Rotate shifts between the main nurse's office, the small nurse's office, and offsite locations as assigned.
- Assist in coordinating with the hospital's corporate team when sending injured students to the hospital and handling cases that require the use of school insurance.
- Assist in following up with students who have been sent to or admitted to the hospital due to illness or injury, and provide updates to all concerned parties, if requested.
- Other tasks as assigned by Head Nurse.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science
- Having a valid Registered Nurse License
- 3 - 5 years experience in nursing field
- Good command in English communication skills
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to work additional hours where needed in case of event
- Service Minded and Able to work under pressure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) knowledge and skills
